juita in Sydney

Thursday, July 13th, 2006

After a hectic final exam and then going straight into deep research, I really needed a break. Lucky for me, my friend from kindergarten, until high school, came to visit me for the weekend. It was the best weekend I ever had since I stayed here alone. Thank you, Juita!!Abpict0007

Pict0009_2 So, if anyone of you would like to pay me a visit, please do so!! It would be my greatest pleasure to bring you around Sydney. Juita and I only had a whole day together, so it wasn’t much time to explore the real Sydney. If you would like to have a volunteer tour guide, and a free accommodation (that’s only if I know you, and you’re not in groups of more than 3, that is, female only :D please dont hesitate to drop me a line). I’ll be more than happy to take you around !!

To add the feeling, i’ll just show you Pict0031_2a few of our pics. Hopefully you’ll get some idea of a day’s worth of going around. Of course, the longer you stay, the more you can see. That’s me at the Flea Market at The Rocks, the oldest town in Sydney. It started as the route to the harbour. so its right next to the Circular Quay, Sydney’s main harbour where Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge are.

Pict0026 You can get on one of the ships, just to know how it feels to be ‘on’ a sailor ship, without going anywhere. its free of charge. unless you would like them to take you somewhere, you can just hang around with the smart looking sailors and take pictures - like me!

Pict0054 then, we can go to the Australian Outback Centre, where all the aboriginals’ stuff are placed for display and for sale - like that Didgeridoo i’m looking at there. Its a musical instrument, a traditional one, where you have to blow it to make a sound. If you watch the Amazing Race where the Hippies won, u’ll get an idea of how its used.

Pict0036 Here’s an example. This guy ‘dressed up’ in the aboriginal style, and played their didgeroo for tourists to see. more free performances are along the way, like magic show, ball juggling, musical instrument playing, mock up statues, and other interesting stuff.

If you’re really into adventure, you can try the Pict0042_2Bridge Climb. It costs you quite some fortune, but hey, how many times can you get a chance to climb a real bridge? That’s the Sydney Harbour Bridge I’m talking about. Can you see the small lines of people on top of the bridge? Can you? They are professionally conducted, takes about 3 1/2 hour, and you dont have to come for early training. they’ll put you in a proper safety suit, give some briefing, and off you go. They’ll take ur picture, and upon departure, u’ll get a certificate! ahaha!! reminds me of young school days when certificate really matters. haha. but yup, you’ll recieve your own BridgeClimb certificate for that. Interesting right?

Pict0098ab_1 At night, the only places open are the cafes, bars and pubs. Nothing much to see when it gets dark. So, for us, we just headed to the beach and set on the cold sand. Bondi Beach that was. We then went back to the Harbour and had some coffee. I had mocca, and Juita had Cappuccino. Im not really a coffee person, but that mocca really made a good impression on my lips!

Well, so that’s it for the day. A good whole day. I wonder if it would be your turn to visit me here. I’ll take you around!!

Many thanks to Juita for making my day! Miss you dear!
